• POLAND — The D.D. and Velma Davis Center at Fellows Riverside Gardens in Mill Creek Park, Youngstown, was the setting on Dec. 15 for a reception for Josh Blackann of Southern Boulevard, Boardman, and his bride, the former Alexa Sweeney of Main Street, after their 5 p.m. wedding at Poland Presbyterian Church.

The bride is a daughter of Douglas and Patricia Sweeney of Main Street, and the groom is a son of John and Gay Blackann, Turner Road, Austintown.

The couple, who spent their honeymoon on Paradise Island in the Bahamas, live at 411 S. Main St.

The bride wore a strapless ivory organza gown enhanced with crystal beading.

Wearing navy-blue gowns were the bride’s sisters and honor attendants, Andrea Sweeney and Carolyn Sweeney, both of Columbus.

The duties of best man were shared by the groom’s brother, Jonathan Blackann of Austintown, and Josh Messer of Cleveland.

Mrs. Blackann, a sales associate at Sweeney Buick Pontiac GMC Chevrolet in Boardman, attended Youngstown State University.

Mr. Blackann is an electrical engineer with Canfield Connector in Boardman. He graduated with a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from YSU, where he is pursuing a master’s in electrical engineering.
