New Castle woman hits pole, flips car

NEW CASTLE, Pa. — State police said charges are pending against a woman who hit a power pole then flipped her car on state Route 108 near Dean Road in Scott Township, Lawrence County. Beth Confer, 45, of New Castle, Pa., left the southern edge of the road at about 10 a.m. Saturday and vaulted through the air after striking a power stake and then the pole. Speed may have been a factor, according to the police report. Confer was flown to UPMC Presbyterian hospital in Pittsburgh for treatment.
