Man jailed, charged with drug trafficking
STAFF REPORT
BOARDMAN — A 22-year-old Youngstown man faces drug charges after police served him with a search warrant for narcotics Thursday at a Market Street motel.
Shawn Green, of East Florida Avenue, was charged with trafficking in cocaine in the vicinity of a juvenile and possession of Valium.
Green was staying at the Boardman Inn, said Sgt. Michael Hughes of the township police department’s narcotics enforcement unit. Police served the search warrant signed by Judge Joseph Houser of Mahoning County Court for Green’s motel room.
Green was arrested about 7 p.m. He remains in the Mahoning County jail.
Green was found with suspected cocaine packaged for sale and pills believed to be Valium and Viagra, police said.
Although officers found Green alone in the motel room, at least two juveniles were in the hallway outside the room at the time of the search.
Police said they found cash that had been used by undercover officers in controlled narcotics buys from Green.
The NEU is made up of 10 patrol officers and detectives who investigate drug crimes in addition to regular duties. Anyone with information regarding trafficking in the township should call police at (330) 726-4144. All calls remain confidential.
