Astros stay alive in consolation bracket of CABA
STRUTHERS — Astro Falcons stayed alive with an 18-hit attack as they knocked out the Northern Ohio Hurricanes, 15-2, in a consolation bracket game at the Continental Amateur Baseball Association World Series Friday night at Cene Park.
Shane Wagner, Jared Turocy, and Pat Mulligan all had three hits while Steve Gruver struck out 15 in a complete-game performance.
Ohio Warhawks 7, Astro Falcons 3
The Warhawks scored four times in the bottom of the sixth inning to break a 3-3 tie in the first round.
Wes White, Ryan Clark, and Tom Touris had two hits each while Akil Cavin had three for the Warhawks. Tristan Moore went the distance for the win with nine strikeouts.
Pat O’Brien went the first five innings for Astro, allowing three runs with four strikeouts.
TJ Sutton had a single and a double for the Astros.
Rondinelli 13, Northern Ohio Hurricanes 5
Rondinelli jumped out to a 11-0 lead in the second inning and went on to a five-inning win.
Todd Kibby went five innings for the win allowing only one earned run and also drove home a pair with a double in the first inning.
Kevin McCullough, and Matt Durkin had a single and a double for Rondinelli while Andrew Nemecek had a pair of hits for the Hurricanes.
