Scrappers rally for win despite shoddy defense

JAMESTOWN, N.Y. — The Mahoning Valley Scrappers did very well on offense Thursday night.

It made up for their defense.

Isaias Velasquez, who had two of the Scrappers’ four errors, went 2-for-3 with two RBIs to lead Mahoning Valley to a 9-8 victory over Jamestown in a New York-Penn League game.

Lonnie Chisenhall added two hits, including the game-winning RBI single in the top of the eighth. Ryan Blair and Donnie Webb also had two hits as the Scrappers compiled 13 singles on the night.

Daniel Morales pitched two shutout innings to get the save.
