The City Prayer Team meets at 10 a.m. the first Saturday of each month at Fifth Avenue Community Church, 1361 Fifth Ave., on Youngstown’s North Side. Between 35 and 40 churches are involved in various activities.

Fun, food and fellowship: A giveaway of backpacks, school supplies and uniforms is scheduled for 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Aug. 23 at the Salvation Army, 1501 Glenwood Ave., Youngstown. Adults must accompany children. The project is a combined effort of the Salvation Army, Jericho Project and prayer team. Donations of new and slightly used uniforms are being collected; white shirts and blouses and navy or khaki slacks are needed. First day of school: City Prayer Team members will “meet and greet” Youngstown pupils and give each a pen, pencil and folder. “We hope our presence will have a positive effect,” Daniels said.
