Astro Falcons lose, but advance in meet
STRUTHERS — San Diego used a 14-hit attack to knock off the Astro Falcons, 10-2, and make it to the double-elimination phase of the CABA tournament.
Ryne Barkley, Eric McKnight, Robert Thibault and Joe Steinberger had two hits each for San Diego, with Tim Coleman going four innings for the mound win.
The Astro Falcons also made the next phase of the tournament.
Astro Falcons 24, South Carolina 2
Matt Pitzulo had a grand slam and also added a triple for Astro, while TJ Rosenberg had three hits and Shane Wagner and Jared Turocy added three RBIs each.
Late Wednesday Ohio Warhawks 7, Rondinelli Tuxedo 6
A two out single in the bottom of the seventh by Mitch Sroka scored the winning run, as the Ohio Warhawks defeated Rondinelli 7-6 late on Wednesday night.
Elliot Williams had three hits for the winners, while Todd Kibby, Cory Nesbitt, and Brett Basilone had two hits each for Rondinelli.

Yo. Metros 5, Brunswick 0
YOUNGSTOWN — Alex Oles pitched a four-hit shutout with nine strikeouts and three walks to lead Metros, which will play a winner’s bracket game today against either Cleveland Shannon Fence or Chillicothe Capitals. Metros is the only local team remaining in the tournament. Eric Pirtz had two hits in the win.
Brunswick 6, Penn Ohio 1
Adam Boris had an RBI single for Penn Ohio, which managed just two hits.
Bryan Parks struck out five, going the distance to get the win.
Shannon Fence 5, Penn Ohio 4
Mike Barone had two hits and scored two runs for Penn Ohio, while Pat Smith pitched a six-hitter to get the loss.
Kyle Shaffer had two hits and scored a run, while Brian Hiscox reached on an error in the eighth and scored the game-winner.
Youngstown Class AA Championship Roth Brothers 5, Metros 3
Jonathan Habuda gave up three runs (two earned) on seven hits with three strikeouts to get the win, and Dan Bertolini pitched 12‚Ñ3 innings of scoreless relief to get the save, as Roth took a 2-0 lead in the best-of-seven series Tuesday.
Mike Sikonski had three hits, including a homer, for Roth.
Mike Hoelzel had three hits, including a triple, for Metros.

Dave Yost pitched a four-hitter with four strikeouts, going the distance for the win. Josh Conkey doubled and scored both runs.
Joe Irwin got the loss, giving up five hits with three strikeouts over seven innings.
