Terry, Gliatta earn NFL tryouts; Tuminello signs with N. Orleans

YOUNGSTOWN — Two Youngstown State senior football players will be trying to earn a berth on a National Football League roster this weekend.

Senior linebacker James Terry of Stafford, Va., a two-time All-Gateway Conference all-star, will leave Thursday for a two-day free agent tryout camp with the Kansas City Chiefs. If things don’t workout there Terry will attend another two-day camp Saturday with the New York Giants.

A three-year starter and a four-year letter winner with the Penguins, Terry has added about 15 pounds of muscle to his body since the end of last season. He played at about 225 pounds as a senior, but has bulked up to 240 for his tryouts.

Senior free safety Vince Gliatta of Canton will leave today for a two-day tryout camp with the Detroit Lions.

Gliatta (6-1, 210) came to YSU as a quarterback, but moved to safety his junior season and had been a starter the past two seasons.

Also, Boardman native Kevin Tuminello signed a free-agent contract with the New Orleans Saints on Sunday.

Tuminello played center at Georgia Tech and was a team captain as a senior.
