LOUIE TODAY: Dr. Dan Kalla, SARS expert

Dr. Dan Kalla, born, raised and still residing in Vancouver, spends his days (and sometimes nights) working as an emergency room physician at an urban teaching hospital. Before that, he worked as a hospital administrator and department head. His interest in emerging pathogens found him unexpectedly in March 2003, when SARS burst on the scene. Dan sat on the SARS taskforce as director of physician staffing for the SARS screening clinic.
