POLAND

April 24

Drugs: A 20-year-old New Middletown man was charged with possession of marijuana after police pulled over a driver on state Route 170 and said he admitted having the drug.

April 25

Arrest: A vehicle registration check on U.S. Route 224 led to the arrest of a 46-year-old Boardman man after authorities learned he was wanted on felony charges of telecommunications fraud, possession of criminal tools and illegal use of food stamps.

April 24

Theft: A Lowellville woman’s purse was stolen as she shopped at a Doral Drive store.

Recovered property: Police found a 1991 Olds Cutlass in the 900 block of Trailwood Drive that had been stolen at a Lake Park Road business and may have been used in a robbery.

Theft: Two men were part of the theft of $100 worth of meat products from Giant Eagle, 476 Boardman-Canfield Road.

Theft/criminal damaging: A Dayton man staying at a Tiffany Boulevard motel discovered a rock had been used to break a passenger-side window to his car. Stolen was a $500 gas unit.

Breaking and entering: Someone forced open a rear door to AT T, 1393 Boardman-Canfield Road, and removed the lock assemblies to another set of doors. Nothing appeared to be missing, however.

Theft: Police arrested a 36-year-old North Jackson man on a theft charge after a $25 bottle of men’s cologne was taken from TJ Maxx, 717 Boardman-Poland Road.

Domestic violence: Authorities booked a 24-year-old Youngstown man on a felony count after a South Schenley Avenue woman alleged he pushed her several times during an argument and picked her up by the throat, causing her to collapse into a bathtub.

Theft: Two Youngstown women, 18 and 38, were charged, accused in the theft of $398.50 worth of merchandise from Kohl’s, 383 Boardman-Poland Road.

Arrest: Police booked a 41-year-old North Port, Fla., woman at the Mahoning County Jail on charges of passing bad checks, forgery and receiving stolen property. Three checks written at Hobby Lobby Creative Center, 472 Boardman-Canfield Road, had been returned for nonsufficient funds.

April 25

Arrest: A 48-year-old Moyer Avenue woman was taken into custody on a charge of disrupting public services, a fourth-degree felony, after police reported getting three 911 calls regarding a parking complaint. The woman made two additional calls despite having been told that her problem is not an emergency, the report said.

Arrest: A Boardman man, 39, who was pulled over on U.S. Route 224, was arrested when officers found out he was wanted on a probation-violation charge.

Robbery: A worker with Catherine’s, 1260 Boardman-Poland Road, told police a gunman wearing a ski mask drove up in a dark, four-door vehicle and demanded the night deposit. The victim placed it on the hood of the robber’s car and was not injured.

Drugs: A man, 22, was cited at his West Boulevard residence on charges of possession of drugs and drug paraphernalia after officers responded to a report of the smell of suspected marijuana coming from the apartment.

Theft: A Friendship Drive man reported approximately 50 DVDs stolen from his home.

Assault: A South Schenley Avenue woman reported her 12-year-old son was assaulted at Boardman Center Middle School, 7410 Market St. The boy had a bruise on his left cheek.

Theft: A 32-year-old Austintown man was charged after being accused of taking two DVD sets from Sam’s Club, 6361 South Ave.

Recovered property: A man working at a job site in the 300 block of Erskine Avenue found a chain saw and a compact-disc player he thought had been stolen from another location.

April 26

Criminal damaging: Two Tanglewood Drive residents found damage to their lamp posts and a mailbox.

Domestic violence: A 24-year-old Boardman man was charged after police responded to a fight at an Oakridge Drive residence. A witness told officers the man slammed his former girlfriend into a vehicle.

Theft: Two Youngstown females, 16 and 18, were charged after $104 worth of merchandise was stolen from Dollar General, 859 E. Midlothian Blvd.

Theft: A Struthers man, 25, was charged, accused of stealing two pairs of blue jeans from Wal-Mart, 1300 Doral Drive.

Criminal mischief: A woman in the 100 block of Ridgewood Drive reported a storm window pane broken.

April 27

Criminal damaging: A car’s rear driver’s-side window was shot in the 60 block of Prestwick Drive.

Drugs: A Boardman man, 27, who was pulled over near Indianola Road was taken into custody on a probation-violation charge. Police said they found a small amount of suspected marijuana and a suspected marijuana pipe, leading to additional charges of drug abuse and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Burglary: Someone broke into a residence in the 60 block of Leighton Avenue through a rear door before removing six small speakers valued at $300.

Truck theft: A Youngstown man reported his 1997 Ford pickup truck stolen while he was at a Market Street business.

Theft: A driver pumped $50.15 worth of gasoline and left a Shell True North station, 8600 Glenwood Ave., without paying.

Domestic violence: A Struthers woman, 26, was arrested near Simon Road and charged after police responded to a fight between a boyfriend and girlfriend at an East Midlothian Boulevard business. The man had a bloody nose and injuries to his forehead, the report said.

April 28

Trespassing: Officers picked up a 21-year-old Campbell woman on a criminal-trespassing charge. A Willow Drive man reported his former girlfriend was in his apartment even though he had told the woman she was not welcome on his property.
