Teens arrested after Coronado Avenue burglary

YOUNGSTOWN — Two North Side teenagers were arrested after police responded to a burglary call on Coronado Avenue.

Antwan J. Lewis, 19, of Cordova Avenue was video arraigned Tuesday in municipal court on charges of burglary, attempted burglary, possession of criminal tools and drug-abuse marijuana. His bond was set at $40,000. He will be back in court May 6 for preliminary and pretrial hearings.

His companion, a 15-year-old Benita Avenue boy, was taken to the Martin P. Joyce Juvenile Justice Center to face charges of burglary and attempted burglary. Police said the 15-year-old boy had in his possession cameras, video equipment, coins and a knife when he and Lewis were arrested on Monday.

The property in the boy’s possession was identified by the owner of the house in the 1800 block of Coronado.

The boy and Lewis are also suspects in the attempted burglary of a house in the 100 block of New York Avenue, police said.

Lewis, police said, had a bag of old dimes on him and keys to a red Ford station wagon parked in the 1800 block of Coronado that reports show was used in North Side burglaries. A police scanner was in the car.

Marijuana was found in Lewis’ pants pocket, police said.
