APRIL 23, 1938: An estimated 80,000 people lined the three mile route through Youngstown for a parade marking 150 years since of the opening of the Northwest Territory in 1788. Local members of the Daughters of the American Revolution rode in a carriage owned by Chauncey A. Cochran. There were 16 bands, numerous marching units and dozens of floats, including that of Ursuline High School, which depictied missionaries arriving in the Western wilderness.
