Area Toastmasters win competition

YOUNGSTOWN — Roy Thomas and David Casey, members of Youngstown Executive Toastmasters, were winners of local competitions held by the group and also competed in the Central Division International Speech Contest for Toastmasters International in late March.

Thomas, who won the Central Division event, will now compete in a regional contest with other Northeast Ohio area club winners.

Artists are invited to volunteer talents

ALLIANCE — Villa Maria Dementia Care, 122 E. College St., is inviting area artists to participate in an Arts for Alzheimer’s mission to enrich the cultural life of those living with Alzheimer’s disease.

Each artist is asked to contribute one hour or one visit to the endeavor. Artists may also submit designs for a memory garden to be created at the facility. June 10 is the deadline for entries, and artists will be rewarded with a plaque at the garden.

Other events to be held in conjunction with the cultural enrichment program will be a Culinary Arts Tasting Party on June 12; a mural painting on the garden fence this spring, and an ongoing scrapbooking event. For details, contact (800) 768-6447.
