State awards grants to provide technology training for teachers

COLUMBUS — Several Mahoning County school districts have been awarded state grants to help provide technology training to educators.

The program is administered through the eTech Ohio Commission, which is dedicated to advancing learning though technology.

“This money provides teachers with the knowledge and skills necessary to use instructional technology as a powerful teaching and learning tool,” said state Rep. Ronald Gerberry of Austintown, D-59th, in announcing the grants. “This approach will help prepare teachers to lead Ohio students into the future.”

Receiving the Professional Development Grant money are:

UAustintown: $2,970.

UBoardman: $2,970.

UCanfield: $2,970.

UJackson-Milton: $2,430.

UMahoning County: $2,070.

UPoland: $2,970.

UWestern Reserve: 2,070.

The eTech Ohio Commission awarded more than $2.1 million in professional development grants to 827 educational entities throughout the state.
