HOWLAND — Retrouvaille, a Catholic peer ministry offered in the Diocese of Youngstown, focuses on marriages in trouble. A weekend program will be May 2-4 at the Avalon Inn, and couples will learn a new communication technique to apply to their situations and issues.

Professionals group
YOUNGSTOWN — Professionals Partnering with Christ will hold a luncheon meeting at noon Thursday at the Youngstown Club, 201 E. Commerce St. Featured speaker will be Mark Kholos of the Regional Chamber, who will discuss the role of faith in the marketplace. Singing ministry
BESSEMER, Pa. — New Creation, a singing ministry from Geneva College in Beaver Falls, Pa., will present a musical program at 7 p.m. Sunday at Bessemer Presbyterian Church, 20 N. Main St. An offering will be taken. Refreshments will follow the program.
Movie at church
WARREN — Christ Episcopal Church, 2627 Atlantic St., will show the movie, “For the Bible Tells Me So,” at 3 p.m. Sunday. The film deals with homosexuality and Christianity’s response.
Comments from former House Majority Leader Richard Gephardt, Episcopal Bishop Gene Robinson, Archbishop Desmond Tutu, Harvard’s Peter Gomes, Orthodox Rabbi Steve Greenberg and the Rev. Jimmy Creech are featured. The Rev. Donna L. Maree, rector of Christ church, and Brent E. Whetstone, congregation ministries coordinator, will lead the discussion. There will be light refreshments. This event is free and open to the public.
Children’s choir
COLUMBIANA — Midway Mennonite Church, 13376 Columbiana-Canfield Road, will host the Mennonite Children’s Choir of Lancaster, Pa., at 7:30 p.m. Sunday. An offering will be taken.
Gospel concert and skit
YOUNGSTOWN — Beulah Baptist Church, 570 Sherwood Ave., will present a gospel concert and short skit at 4 p.m. Sunday with the theme, “Behold, how good and pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity.” (Psalm 133:1)
Anointing Mass
YOUNGSTOWN — An anointing Mass is planned at 11 a.m. May 7 at St. Casimir Church, 145 Jefferson St. The Rev. John Keehner, celebrant, will anoint the sick, suffering, troubled and elderly. After Mass, there will be a light luncheon.
Music by Tia Ciferno
MINERAL RIDGE — First Presbyterian Church, 3654 Main St., will host an evening of music with Tia Ciferno at 6 p.m. May 4. The Warren woman is a singer, songwriter, author and speaker. She has recorded three CDs — “Healer of My Heart,” “Heaven Sent” and “Legacy.” A pot luck dinner will be at 5 and those attending are asked to bring a casserole or dessert to share. The program is free and open to the public. An offering will be taken.
India Children’s Choir
DAMASCUS — The India Children’s Choir will perform at 7 p.m. Sunday at Damascus United Methodist Church, 300 Valley Road. The choir, which is on a 10-month tour of the United States, is a ministry of Bibles For The World. The mission, Bibles For The World, was founded by Dr. Rochunga and Mawii Pudaite and allows people to read the Bible in their native languages. A reception will follow the free concert.
Gold City to perform
HUBBARD — Gold City, a Southern Gospel group, will perform at 6 p.m. May 4 at Chestnut Ridge Church of God, 7215 Chestnut Ridge Road. The group has won every significant Southern Gospel award multiple times. Advance tickets are $10 and may be obtained at Heaven on Earth in Boardman, A New Beginning in Warren, J.M.J. Spiritual Connections in Youngstown and Bible and Gifts in Hermitage, Pa. Call the church at (330) 534-0084 for more information. Night to honor Mary
YOUNGSTOWN — The annual “Night to Honor Mary” will be celebrated in two locations in the six-county Diocese of Youngstown.
Services will be held Friday at St. Columba Cathedral, 154 W. Wood St., and May 9 at St. Paul Church, 1459 Superior Ave. N.E. The devotional services will both begin at 7 p.m. and will include recitation of the rosary, Scripture readings, a homily and hymns.
Bishop George V. Murry will preside and deliver the homily at both celebrations. At St. Columba, music will be directed by Dr. Daniel Laginya, cathedral organist and choirmaster, and at St. Paul by Jack Frient, director of music.
Revival planned
WARREN — Greater Progressive Church of God in Christ, 1704 Milton St., will hold a revival at 7 p.m. Monday through Friday. Speaker will be prophetess Venus Koen Stafford. James R. Jordan is senior pastor.
Day of prayer
NEW WATERFORD — New Waterford United Methodist Church, 46925 S. State St., will sponsor a community observance of National Day of Prayer Thursday. There will be praise and worship music at 11 a.m. and prayer at noon in New Waterford Park. A prayer service will be held at 7 p.m. at the church followed by fellowship and refreshments.
Singer at Holy Trinity
YOUNGSTOWN — Holy Trinity Missionary Baptist Church, 505 Parkcliffe Ave., will host national recording artist, Lace Taylor of Orlando, Fla., at its 10:45 a.m. worship service Sunday.
The Bahamas-born entertainer has had the opportunity to minister with Martha Munizzi, Grammy-nominated artist; Ron Kenoly, international worship leader; and Larnelle Harris and Truth and Angela Courte. She has appeared on a variety of television programs and recently was featured in the Spirit-Led Women magazine.
