Phantoms will open Cup series against South

BOARDMAN — The Mahoning Valley Phantoms will open the Robertson Cup Championship tournament on Wednesday at 3 p.m. at the Hardees IcePlex in Chesterfield, Mo.

The Phantoms’ first opponent will be the South Division champions — either the Topeka Roadrunners or the Fairbanks Ice Dogs.

The Phantoms’ second game will be Thursday at 7:30 p.m. against the St. Louis Bandits.

The Phantoms will wrap up the round-robin portion of the tournament May 2 at 3 p.m. against the Central Division champions — either the Springfield Junior Blues or the Alexandria Blizzard.

The team with the most points after the round-robin will get a bye into the championship game. The teams that finish second and third will play in the semifinal game on May 3 at 3 p.m. The fourth-place team will be eliminated.

The Robertson Cup Championship game will be played May 4 at 5 p.m.
