On March 9, The Vindicator published a story on A1 under the headline “Tax OK fuels pay raises” that addressed pay raises to Mahoning County employees that came after passage of the 2007 sales tax levy. A clarification is necessary on information pertaining to raises for 12 employees in Mahoning County Juvenile Court supervised by Judge Theresa Dellick. Some of the court’s employees received raises before the levy was approved. Other pay raises were funded by increases in state funding, not sales taxes. For these 12 employees, the sales tax passage was irrelevant in terms of determining their pay increases, editors of The Vindicator have determined.
