SHARON, Pa. — Penn State Shenango will present five recently released films as part of its Spring French Film Festival starting at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday and continuing through May 3 in the campus’ Forker Lab Forum. The weeklong event, sponsored by the French-American Cultural Exchange and the Penn State Shenango Institute of Family and Community Empowerment, is free to the public.

The featured films include “L’Ivresse du Pouvoir [Comedy of Power]” on Tuesday, “Les Indigenes [Days of Glory]” on Wednesday, “Le Hop [Hop]” on May 1, “Fauteuil d’Orchestre [Avenue Montaigne]” on May 2, and “Chats Perches [The Case of the Grinning Cat]” on May 3. Topics range from current and controversial topics, such as racism, immigration and political and corporate corruption to the afterlife of colonialism.

Gretchen Wilson coming to Mountaineer resort

CHESTER, W.Va. — County music star Gretchen Wilson will perform at the Harv at Mountaineer Casino, Racetrack and Resort on May 9. The concert begins at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $60, $40 and $20, and can be purchased through Ticketmaster.

Salem Jubilee Chorus readies annual show

SALEM — The Salem Jubilee Chorus, directed by Chris Brown, will hold its annual show at 7 p.m. Saturday at Salem High School Auditorium. General admission tickets are $9 and reserved seats are $11. For more information, call (330) 337-8415.

Trumpet, percussion ensembles in concert

ALLIANCE — The Mount Union College Trumpet and Percussion Ensembles will present a free concert at 8 p.m. Sunday in Presser Recital Hall. The Trumpet Ensemble is under the direction of R. Christopher Hall, instructor of music, and the Percussion Ensemble is directed by Jeffrey Neitzke, instructor of music.

Presser Recital Hall is in Cope Music Hall on the corner of Union Avenue and Simpson Street at Mount Union.

Hoyt seeks instructors

NEW CASTLE, Pa. — The Hoyt Art Institute of Fine Arts is seeking experienced art instructors to expand its adult and children’s educational programming in a variety of subjects, including drawing, painting, ceramics, metal-smithing, stained glass, printmaking, sculpture, jewelry, art history, literature and languages. Courses can range from one-day workshops to eight-week classes.

Also, an experienced preschool teacher for Children’s Art Camp, July 8-25, is being sought.
