Indians, Royals postponed by rain

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — The Cleveland Indians at Kansas City Royals game was postponed by rain Wednesday night and will be made up today as part of a doubleheader.

The Royals waited almost 2 hours before officially calling the game, with no let up of rain in the forecast. Neither team took batting practice on the field after the tarp was put down in the late afternoon.

Indians right-hander Fausto Carmona (2-1, 1.96 ERA) and Royals right-hander Brett Tomko (1-2, 3.60), who were scheduled to start Wednesday night, will pitch the opener.

The Indians will send out Cliff Lee (3-0, 0.40) for the nightcap opposite the Royals’ Brian Bannister (3-1, 2.42).
