PNC plans to build park in Pittsburgh

PITTSBURGH — PNC Financial Services Group Inc. said Tuesday that it will build a public park adjacent to a planned downtown high-rise. The 8,000 square-foot park, to be located at the corner of Fifth and Liberty avenues, will include benches and plantings that require little water.

The park, which will be the second downtown park built by PNC, is scheduled to open in 2010. The 23-story Three PNC Plaza will be the city’s first new high-rise in 20 years. It is scheduled to open in 2009.
