Prep softball Tuesday’s games
Ursuline 4, Hubbard 2
YOUNGSTOWN — Sophomore Casey Lower (9-2) scattered four hits with seven strikeouts to pick up the win. Nikka Bonamase hit a triple, single and scored once for the Irish (10-2). Rebecca Hartz hit a pair of singles, stole a base and scored once. Losing pitcher Gabby Flynn (3-4) hit a triple, single, scored once and drove in a run for the Eagles (9-5).
Lake 2, Boardman 0
BOARDMAN — Alex Saporito hit a solo home run in the second inning and that was all Lake pitcher Mallory Harder needed to defeat Boardman. Harder tossed a four-hitter while shutting out the Spartans (6-3, 1-3 Federal League). Shannon Morrow had two of the four hits for Boardman, while Katie Howkins added a double.
Salem 14, Warren Harding 4
WARREN — Kate Kibler (1-11) and Kate Malloy combined to pitch a one-hitter for the Quakers, who snapped a 11-game losing streak at Packard Park. Malloy hit a triple, double, single, scored twice and drove in two runs. Leah Minamyer hit a triple, single, scored three times and drove in two runs. Miste Shadle hit a double, single and drove in three runs. Jordan Hissom hit a pair of singles and drove in two runs. Kibler struck out two and Malloy five.
Campbell 4, Youngstown Christian 3
CAMPBELL —Bianca Koup’s double in the bottom of the eighth with two outs knocked in sophomore Danielle Donofrio from second base with the game-winning run at Roosevelt Park. Koup, a sophomore, also had a single. Dolan, a senior, also had a single and double for the Red Devils (3-6). Melnik, a junior, threw eight strikeouts.
Lakeview 4, Struthers 0
CORTLAND — Freshman Mackenzie Palette (5-0) tossed a four-hitter, striking out six batters and walking two. Joanna Novotny hit a RBI double while Raelynn Burns had two hits for the Bulldogs (9-2). Jessica Downs drove in a run with a base hit. For the Wildcats, Dom Martino and Ashley Baron had hits.
McDonald 10, Southern 0
McDONALD — Kaitlin Rutushin pitched a no-hitter with 10 strikeouts as McDonald blanked Southern. Rutushin also had two singles and two RBIs while Sarah Ingalls added a triple and single and one RBI and Alyssa Hutzler two singles to aid McDonald (13-0). Rutushin also is 13-0.
Western Reserve 3, Leetonia 2
BERLIN CENTER — Chelsea Korda and Ellie Sanders each had two hits including doubles and a RBI for the Blue Devils (6-7, 6-2 ITCL2). Heather Monoski tripled. Winning pitcher Brittany Boyer (3-3) whiffed six and walked none. For the Bears, Andie McCluskey homered and Erin Lamb tripled.
Lowellville 14, Wellsville 6
Wellsville — Cori Pavlicko had a home run and double for three RBIs and was also the winning pitcher, striking out five and giving up no walks. Kayla Maszczak had two singles and a double and two RBIs, Brooke Pallozzi had a double and single and one RBI, Shawna McDowell had two singles and two RBIs and Stephanie Gruber had a double and three RBIs for Lowellville.
Champion 10, Pymatuning Valley 5
CHAMPION — Winning pitcher Morgan White (5-3) struck out seven batters and walked two. Nicole Weaver’s three hits included a homer and brought home two runs. White had two hits and Taylor Petersal doubled. Jen Tennant tripled and doubled for the Lakers. K.C. Landis had two hits and Amanda Tennant doubled.
Liberty 6, LaBrae 5
LIBERTY — Alison House singled home Melissa Dykes with the winning run in the last of the seventh inning. Dykes had singled, went to second on Katie Greaf’s walk and stole third base. Dykes finished with a triple, single and two RBIs while Greaf had two doubles and three RBIs and Shelby Stefanski two singles for Liberty (4-4, 4-3 MAC). Lauren Crays had two singles for LaBrae (5-8, 1-7 MAC).
Mathews 7, Ledgemont 0
VIENNA — Brittany Schnarrs tossed a one-hitter, striking out 12 and walking two, to lead the Mustangs (3-7). Schnarrs also had two hits, as did Audrey Dodgson. McKenzie Brown added two RBIs. Ledgemont is 7-3.
Southeast 3, Akron Coventry 1
AKRON — Shannon Hamilton hit a pair of triples and Danielle Kaley pitched a five hitter to pace Southeast (11-2) over Akron Coventry. Alyssa Blitz had a double and single and Emily Munger a double for the Pirates. Amanda Farkas had two of the hits for Coventry.
