Police seek armed robber in Liberty

LIBERTY — Township police are looking for the man responsible for an armed robbery and carjacking late Monday night.

According to police reports, the 54-year-old manager of the Midas auto repair center on Belmont Avenue was leaving the building just after 11 p.m. Monday after locking up for the day when a man wearing a sweatshirt with the hood pulled over his head appeared near his car and pointed a gun at him. The man ordered the manager to his knees.

The manager, reports said, handed over bank deposits from the business, his wallet and his car keys. The hooded man then sprayed the manager with pepper spray and drove off in the manager's car.
