Pens play Rangers on Friday
PITTSBURGH — The Pittsburgh Penguins’ second-round opponent in the Stanley Cup Playoffs will be the New York Rangers.
Tuesday, the sixth-seeded Philadelphia Flyers ousted the third-seeded Washington Capitals, 3-2 in overtime. The Flyers, the lowest remaining seeded team will play the top-seeded Canadiens beginning Thursday in Montreal.
The fifth-seeded Rangers will play the second-seeded Pens in a best-of-seven series beginning Friday at Mellon Arena.
The Pens advanced by sweeping the Ottawa Senators while the Rangers upset the New Jersey Devils.
