Upcoming events

Earth Day is today, but there are a number of related events scheduled in the region over the next several days.

Earth Day Festival: 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday at Youngstown State University.

Bonfire and poetry readings at the College Field Station at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at Westminster College, New Wilmington, Pa.

“Ecological Footprints,” a program on values and principles for a sustainable future, from 1 to 5 p.m. Saturday at Woods Pavilion at Villa Maria (Pa.) Community center. Hayrides, farm tours and a healing drum circle are part of the program.

Earth Day 5K, organized by the Sierra Student Coalition, at 9 a.m. Saturday at the Field House at Westminster College.

Public nature hike at 10:30 a.m. Saturday starting at the boat house at Brittain Lake, Westminster College.

“Community, Creation and Climate Change” from 1 to 5:30 p.m. Sunday at the Villa Maria Community Center, looking at the Great Lakes region and the global community.
