SECURITY ADVICE Mahoning County Courthouse


Every court shall develop and follow a security and emergency action plan.

Each court shall establish a written continuity of operations manual in case of an emergency that requires it to operate at an alternative site.

All persons entering the court facility should be subject to security screening at all times.

During the transport of prisoners, personnel in direct contact with the prisoners should not carry firearms. However, an armed court security officer should be present.

All courtrooms and hearing rooms should have duress alarms at the judge’s bench and at the bailiff’s and secretary’s work stations.

The public should not be permitted in the office space housing judges and court personnel, and cardreader door locks should be considered at the entrance to this space.
