Couple to be honored for volunteer service

MINERAL RIDGE — Dan and Patti Rossi of Boardman will be honored for their volunteer service at Briarfield at The Ridge, 3379 Main St., during a ceremony at 3:30 p.m. Monday. They will be presented a set of hand-painted plaques of the Stations of the Cross, which have been displayed at the senior care center.

Mr. and Mrs. Rossi, both recently commissioned as Eucharistic ministers by Bishop George V. Murry of the Diocese of Youngstown, are members of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Youngstown. The couple has fostered and expanded Catholic traditions and services at the center, where about 30 percent of the residents are Catholic. Mr. and Mrs. Rossi started a rosary group, called the Monday Group, which meets on that day of the week to recite the rosary and has about 25 participants. Inspirational stories and readings also are shared within the group.

The couple has volunteered at Briarfield since December 2007. They are active in their church, where he is a past president of the Parish Council and she taught Catechism.

Recognizing the couple for their service will be Stacey Bettura, administrator; Tracy DeAndrea, director of nursing; Maureen McCarty, activity director; and Monsignor Michael J. Cariglio, pastor of Our Lady of Mount Carmel.
