“Sweet Nothing in My Ear” (9 p.m., CBS): Marlee Matlin and Jeff Daniels star in “Sweet Nothing in My Ear,” the latest “Hallmark Hall of Fame” presentation. They play the parents of a young boy who loses his hearing. Their relationship becomes divisive when they disagree over the merits of a surgical implant for the child.

“Expedition Alaska” (9 p.m., Discovery): This two-hour special opens the network’s Alaska Week as a team of naturalists, scientists and filmmakers spend 40 days in the wilderness. The program includes new footage of some of Alaska’s wild animals, filmed in the state’s National Wildlife Refuge.

“My Boy Jack” (9 p.m., PBS): “Harry Potter” star Daniel Radcliffe puts away the magic wand long enough to take on the title role in the “Masterpiece” production of “My Boy Jack.” He plays the son of author Rudyard Kipling — a teenage soldier who goes missing in action during World War I.

“Brothers & Sisters” (10:02 p.m., ABC): The family drama “Brothers & Sisters” makes a welcome return to the schedule with an episode that has Kitty and Robert making a life-altering decision when the presidential race takes a dramatic turn. Meanwhile, the Walker siblings are shocked by Nora’s reaction to a surprise proposal from Isaac.

“John Oliver: Terrifying Times” (10 p.m., Comedy Central): He explains the polite way to invade a country and take slaves.
