Weathersfield school board OKs contracts for 6 teachers


The board also renewed its roof maintenance pact with an Austintown business.

MINERAL RIDGE — The Weathersfield Board of Education approved new contracts for six district teachers at its Wednesday meeting.

Approved for their second one-year contracts were Meghan Ghizzoni, fourth-grade teacher for the 2008-09 school year at a salary of $36,345; Megan Jenkins, special education teacher at Seaborn Elementary, at a salary of $34,821; Chris Jennings, high school English teacher, at a salary of $28,727; Andrea Gentile, third-grade teacher, two-year limited contract for the 2008-09 and 2009-10 school years at a salary of $36,345; Tracey Rummell, middle school special education teacher, five-year limited contract from 2008-2013 at a salary of $40,344; and Susan Owens, middle school and elementary music teacher, five-year contract from 2008-2013 at a salary of $43,554.

The board also approved renewal of the roof maintenance contract with Roth Bros. Inc., Austintown, for all three district buildings at a cost of $4,000 for the 2008-09 school year.

The board accepted donations from Gil Blair, $1,040, a parent of an elementary school pupil, through a payroll-deduction program sponsored by his employer, Progressive Casualty Insurance Co., Youngstown, for 2008 for the elementary principal’s fund, and books valued at $263 from Mr. and Mrs. Fred McCandless, to the high school library.

Eighth-grade orientation will be at 12:30 p.m. Friday at the high school.

Kindergarten registration will be from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday at Seaborn Elementary School.

The Seaborn Elementary School Fair will be from 6 to 8 p.m. April 25.
