Wayne Brady divorce becomes final

LOS ANGELES — Wayne Brady is officially single again. The 35-year-old comedian has been living separately from his wife, Mandie, for four years, but the couple’s divorce was just finalized this week. According to papers filed this week in Los Angeles Superior Court, the pair married in April 1999 and officially separated in April 2006, citing irreconcilable differences. They have one daughter, 5-year-old Maile Brady.

The couple used a mediator to arrive at a final divorce settlement. Details about their child custody, child support and property-division arrangements were not made public. Brady recently guest-starred on TV’s “Everybody Hates Chris” and “How I Met Your Mother.”

Streisand donates $5M for heart research

LOS ANGELES — Barbra Streisand has put her money where her heart is. The 66-year-old singer-actress has donated $5 million to endow a research and education program on women’s heart disease at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. The hospital on Wednesday announced the new Barbra Streisand Women’s Cardiovascular Research Education Program.

Dr. Eduardo Marban, who directs the Cedars-Sinai Heart Institute, said cardiovascular disease is the nation’s leading killer of women — responsible for nearly 500,000 deaths a year — but most research on heart disease revolves around men. Streisand said women must get involved in reducing risks for heart disease. The new program will conduct trials on new drugs for women, try to identify the role of gender in heart disease, and work on other ways of reducing risks.

Paris Hilton’s mom lands spot on soap

LOS ANGELES — Paris Hilton’s mom has a new gig. Kathy Hilton will play herself on the May 13 episode of the CBS soap opera “The Young and the Restless.” She finds a magazine cover model for her friend Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman), but takes over the photo shoot, infuriating magazine staffers, in the episode taped Wednesday.

Hilton starred in her own NBC reality show in 2005, “I Want to Be a Hilton,” in which contestants competed for a chance to live like a socialite for a year. She made headlines last May at daughter Paris’ probation-violation hearing by laughing when a city prosecutor argued that Paris deserved jail time.
