TRUMBULL COUNTY |Children Services awards
Two families presented Wednesday with the Rising Up and Moving on Award were Luther and Marion Ringold of Warren and Chardon and William Wiley of Euclid.
The Ringolds: On Nov. 8, 2007, they adopted a boy and girl during Adoption Celebration Day in Trumbull County Common Pleas Court. Their three children were grown and out of the home when they adopted the special-needs children. They required one-on-one attention and there were some difficult times. They know how important family is to children and are in the process of adopting two other special-needs children. “Love takes over,” Marion Ringold said. Trumbull County Children Services says the Ringolds are a valuable asset to the agency and are positive role models for their children and other foster parents.
The Wileys: They are the aunt and uncle of three children. The children were living with their mother and stepfather but were having difficulty maintaining the children in the home — hygiene and supervision being a concern. The parents found that the children’s behaviors were becoming increasingly out of control at home and school. One was found on the roof of a neighboring house and in August 2006 was suspected of setting a fire in their neighborhood. In April 2007, the Wileys entered the situation and the children went to live with them. Their mother decided not to stay with the children, but they encourage contact with her and have made contact with their biological father.
