Local mining company to do blasting in Springfield Township

NEW SPRINGFIELD — D&D Mining Co., 3379 E. Garfield Road, will be detonating explosives in Springfield Township. The blasting will be east of Woodworth Road (state Route 165) on the properties of J.K. Energy Co. and Meander Creek Farms Ltd. of North Lima.

Blasting operations will be conducted Monday through Saturday between the hours of 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. from April 30 to April 29, 2009.

All access roads will be posted with blasting signs and will be barricaded or guarded during blasting.

Three long air horn blasts at least one minute, but not more than two minutes, before blasting will be the warning signal. One long air horn blast will mean all clear.

The company said blasting will not be conducted at times different from those above except in emergency situations where rain, lightning or other atmospheric conditions or operations or public safety requires unscheduled detonations.
