BOARDMAN — Pat O’Brien pitched a two-hitter and had two singles and one RBI, while Kevin McCulloh hit a two-run homer and two singles and finished with three RBIs, to lead Boardman (7-2, 2-1 Federal League). Mike Popio added a double, two singles and two RBIs, Joe Strawinski a double, single and one RBI and Dean Porter a double and single.

Jackson 3, Fitch 1

MASSILLON — Tyler Chapman gave up two hits over six innings to get the mound win and also had three RBIs offensively to lead the Polar Bears (5-2, 3-0 Federal League). Josh Stalnaker added three hits. Steve Gruver struck out nine and walked two over seven innings to get the loss for Fitch (4-4, 2-1). Rick Fegesto singled and scored.

Howland 10, Salem 5

HOWLAND — Matt Preston went 3-for-3 with two doubles, two runs scored and five RBIs to lead Howland (5-3, 2-1 Metro Athletic Conference), which put the game away with five runs in the fifth inning. Dan Fortney, Nick Lesky, Jimmy Armeni and Brandon Holland each had two hits for Salem, which committed five errors.

Hubbard 6, Lakeview 3

HUBBARD — Lakeview’s 2-1 lead vanished in the fourth when Hubbard scored three times en route to victory. Both sides allowed five hits. Starter and winner Bo Slemons recording five strikeouts, while reliever Matt Shelton registering four. Losing pitcher Robert Franks had six strikeouts. Senior John Madeline had two hits for Hubbard (8-2, 5-0 TAC). Rocco Greco and Nick Massacci each had two hits for Lakeview (3-6, 3-3).

Girard 13, Liberty 4

GIRARD — Larry Goist hit two triples and a double to drive in four runs for the Indians (6-5, 4-2 TAC). Winning pitcher Chris Weibel’s three hits drove in two runs. He struck out five and walked four. Aaron Jennings had three RBIs and two hits. Cory Stevens’ two hits included a double. For Liberty, Joe Tamarkin had two hits and two RBIs. Starting pitcher Nate Fader also had two hits.

Mooney 11, Lakeview 6

YOUNGSTOWN — The Cardinals (9-1) rallied from a first-inning 6-0 deficit to take the lead 10-6 in the bottom of the third inning. Anthony Franceschelli (3-0) worked four innings to pick up the win. Don Eich and Bob Herberger each had three hits, while Matt Durkin and Colin Hart had two apiece. Kevin Cox and Joe Lindsey each had two hits for Lakeview (4-4).

Newton Falls 5, Champion 4

CHAMPION — Freshman Tyler Kernen had one hit but three RBIs, while senior Aaron Walker had two singles for Newton Falls (1-3, 1-3 TAC). Kernen’s single in the top of the fourth inning scored senior Dan Leeworthy with the tying run, followed by freshman Matt Lubonovic’s single to push across Jae Leeworthy with the go-ahead run. Joe Cvengros had two hits and two RBIs for Champion. Jae Leeworthy (1-1) finished with 10 strikeouts, while losing pitcher Aaron Hauser fanned six.

Springfield 1, United 0

NEW MIDDLETOWN — Springfield (7-4, 5-1) scored the only run of the ITCL Tier One game in the bottom of the first inning as Bryan Visingardi walked, stole second and scored on a double by Todd Kibby. Travis Richey (2-0) allowed only four hits with nine strikeouts to pick up the win. Jake Snyder scattered three hits with nine strikeouts in taking the loss for the Golden Eagles (4-2).

Lowellville 12, Leetonia 11

STRUTHERS — Vince Travaline hit a bases-loaded triple in the bottom of the seventh inning to tie the game at 11-11. Jim Sudon’s groundout brought home Travaline with the winning run for the Rockets (7-2, 6-1 ITCL Tier Two). Sudon had three hits and three RBIs. Cody Vocature had three hits and Dante Abbas two. For the Bears (7-2, 5-2), starting pitcher Lee Selway had four hits and scored three runs.

Western Reserve 4, McDonald 3

BERLIN CENTER — Babe Gaudet went 4-for-4 with two RBIs and Bob Banks (3-0) allowed four hits over 5 2/3 innings in a game of unbeaten teams. Maverick Chick had two hits and an RBI and Banks also had five strikeouts for the winners (6-0, 5-0 ITCL Tier Two). Western Reserve out-hit McDonald, 10-4. McDonald dropped to 7-1, 5-1.

East Palestine 3, South Range 1

NORTH LIMA — Tommy Powers had a double, while Nick Baiamont and Pat Buckley both had a single for East Palestine. Buckley’s hit knocked in a run for the Bulldogs. Senior Steve Bensinger, sophomore Vince Miller and senior Joel Melnick had a single apiece for South Range (1-5, 1-4 ITCL Tier One). Bensinger’s hit accounted for a run.

Lisbon 6, Crestview 5

LISBON — Josh Jackson squeeze bunted the tying run in the fifth inning and drove home the winning run in the bottom of the ninth for the Blue Devils (3-5, 3-3) in the Inter Tri-County League contest. Dana Rose (1-0) came on in relief in the second inning and completed the game for the win. Greg Bing hit a pair of singles for the Rebels.

Mineral Ridge 3, Columbiana 0

MINERAL RIDGE — Anthony Pannunzio pitched a two-hitter with five strikeouts and one walk for Mineral Ridge. Pannunzio (2-2) was backed by Jason Ferguson with a double, single and two RBIs and Ryan Anderson with two singles.
