Man faces charges in firing of gun
The man is being held in Trumbull County Jail.
LIBERTY — A 20-year-old Youngstown man is facing multiple charges after police say he fired a gun during an argument at a party over the weekend.
Quentin Tremayne Jones, 20, Jackson Street, pleaded not guilty Monday in Girard Municipal Court to felony receiving stolen property, and misdemeanor carrying a concealed weapon and discharge of a firearm. He will be back in court Wednesday for a preliminary hearing.
Jones is being held in Trumbull County Jail with bond set at $25,000.
According to police reports, officers stopped a blue Cadillac driven by Jones on Michigan Avenue at 1:39 a.m. Sunday after reports of gunfire coming from the car. Officers found a 9mm handgun under the driver’s seat of the car.
The gun was later determined to have been stolen in Youngstown.
A witness told police that Jones, still sitting in his car, argued with several people at a party on Michigan Avenue. The man said that Jones got out of the car and fired one shot before trying to drive away.
According to reports, Jones told officers he fired the shot to disperse a crowd.
There were two other men and two 15-year-old females in the car at the time Jones was stopped. The men were released, and the juveniles were released to their parents.
