Man arrested on gun charge today

YOUNGSTOWN — A loaded 9 mm handgun was found during a traffic stop on South Avenue at 2:45 a.m. today and the driver arrested. Matthew Johnson, 27, of Orrin Avenue was arrested on charges of carrying a concealed weapon, possession of cocaine, driving left of center failure to display his license. Police stopped the Cadillac Johnson was driving after he swerved into oncoming traffic. A search prior to tow of the car revealed the gun and a bag of suspected crack cocaine inside the glove box, where Johnson had reached when officers approached the car, reports show.
