Keck’s triple, double power Jackson-Milton win


Leetonia, Struthers and Howland posted easy victories.

WELLSVILLE — Cat Keck’s three hits included a triple and double on Monday to lead the Jackson-Milton High softball team to a 5-4 victory over Wellsville.

Keck drove in two runs for the Bluejays (2-5, 2-3 Inter Tri-County League Tier Two).

Lily Justice doubled to drive in Taylor Dugan with the winning run in the seventh inning. Dugan’s three hits included a double.

Other Bluejays with doubles were Katelyn Pirko, Chelsey Debolt and winning pitcher Lindsey Knipp who struck out nine batters and walked one. Debolt’s double drove in two runs in the first inning.

Leetonia 9, Lowellville 0

LEETONIA — Winning pitcher Erin Lamb struck out three batters. Clarissa Perkins and Andie McCluskea had hits for the Bears.

Shawn McDowell and Cori Pavlicko had hits for the Rockets in the ITCL2 game.

Struthers 12, Niles 1

NILES — Winning pitcher Ashley Baron’s three hits included two doubles for the Wildcats (9-2, 3-0 Metro Athletic Conference).

Dom Martino and Nicolette Demyan each had two hits. One of Demyan’s was a double.

For the Red Dragons, Megan McDermott and Danielle Berringer each had two hits.

Howland 11, Campbell 1

CAMPBELL — Rachel Bixler’s three hits included a double for the Tigers (4-4, 2-1 Metro Athletic Conference).

Amanda Toth and Kasey Haering doubled while Gina Albani and Carla Cope had two hits each.

For the Red Devils (1-4, 0-2), Erica Melnik doubled home a run in the sixth inning to break up Melanie Cope’s no-hit bid.

Ursuline 10, Marlington 4

ALLIANCE — Anna Donko’s four hits led the Irish (5-1). Miranda Carkido had three hits while Kasey Foley and Jessica Yarab had two apiece.

Carkido, Yarab and Foley each drove in two runs.

Winning pitcher Casey Lower (5-1) struck out six batters and walked two.

Marlington is 2-3.

Champion 10, Brookfield 0

CHAMPION — Amanda Sain (3-1) pitched a two-hitter over six innings, striking out 11 and walking one, to lead Champion (5-3, 4-0 Trumbull Athletic Conference). Katie Saluga added three hits and two RBIs.

Maplewood 7, Badger 0

KINSMAN —Amanda Peska and Brandy Dunbar of Maplewood combined to pitch a two-hitter with Peska picking up the win.

Emily Paris hit a grand slam in the fifth inning. She also singled.

Amanda Dawson hit a pair of singles and Tori Spencer doubled.
