Boardman sets Clean Up Litter Day

BOARDMAN — Saturday is Clean Up Litter Day in the township.

The event coordinates with Earth Day events occurring across the country. Based on the number of volunteers, the township plans to clean up four areas with one clean-up crew in each quadrant of the township along U.S. Route 224 and Southern Boulevard.

Litter Clean Up volunteers should be in the parking lot behind the Lariccia Family Bocce Pavilion at Boardman Park at 9 a.m. Assignments for areas needing attention will be distributed. Gloves, T-shirts, vests and trash bags will be provided.

It’s estimated that each volunteer will pick up two pounds of litter per hour. April 26 is the scheduled rain date.

The project is funded by a grant from the Ohio Department of Natural Resources, Division of Recycling & Litter Prevention and sponsored by the Sandwich Factory.
