Sheriff deputy cadet fired after drug bust

YOUNGSTOWN — Ivey J. Maybou was fired immediately as a Mahoning County deputy sheriff cadet after his arrest on a federal charge of possession with intent to deliver cocaine, said Sheriff Randall A. Wellington.

Maybou, 39, of Warren was arrested at 7:15 p.m. Saturday at the McDonald’s restaurant on Fifth Avenue by FBI agents, sheriff’s deputies and Youngstown State University campus police. He was expected to make his initial appearance in Youngstown federal court today.

Wellington said Maybou, who was hired last July and still on probationary status, had intended to bring drugs into the jail on Fifth Avenue where he worked as a corrections officer.
