The surgery

Cataract surgery is generally performed under local anaesthetic as an outpatient procedure.

An ophthalmologist removes the cataract and implants the lens.

Surgery is usually done on one eye at a time.

Because the Bausch & Lomb crystalens intraocular lens uses eye muscles to focus, it provides the recipient with clear vision at all distances usually without the need of glasses.
