KFC raises $15,000 for victim

— YOUNGSTOWN — Thanks to the hundreds of people who turned out for Joe Kaluza Day on Sunday at KFC on South Avenue, more than $15,000 was raised to help the manager paralyzed after being shot during a robbery, said Gloria Roy, company spokesman. The restaurant donated all proceeds from Sunday sales and canister collections to the Kaluza fund established at Huntington Bank. Roy said the collection canisters will remain out at the KFC on South Avenue and other KFC franchises. Kaluza, 42, was robbed of the restaurant bank deposit during a staged crash on March 24. Two people have been charged with the crime.
