Ex-Hubbard youth football treasurer sentenced to 30 days in jail

WARREN — The former treasurer of a little league football team has been sentenced to 30 days in jail and ordered to make $8,000 in restitution.

Susan Hettrick, 37, Buena Vista Road, Hubbard, was also ordered Monday by Judge Peter Kontos of Trumbull County Common Pleas Court to serve five years’ probation after the jail term is complete and perform 100 hours of community service. She pleaded Feb. 4 to a charge of unauthorized use of property.

Police reported in June 2007 that Hettrick transferred more than $17,000 from the Hubbard Little Eagles savings account to her personal account between March 2006 and May 2007, $8,000 of which was missing.

Team officials, police had said, became concerned when Hettrick repeatedly failed to hand over keys to the team’s post office box and disclose documents detailing the team’s financial position. The officials then went to police.
