YOUNGSTOWN — Frank A. Sokol was installed as 2008 commandant of the Tri-State Marines Detachment during the group’s annual meeting April 1 at ITAMS Post 3 on Meridian Road. Other officers installed are: John T. Jubak, senior vice commandant; Michael S. Kacik, junior vice commandant; Harry Dampf , judge advocate; Richard A. Mitchells, junior past commandant; Frank H. Griffiths, paymaster; Naiden Mejia, adjutant; John J. Kirsch, sergeant at arms; Dale W. Baringer, chaplain; and Robert M. Brienik, historian.
Stress study planned
PITTSBURGH, Pa. — The University of Pittsburgh is seeking military veterans, between age 18 and 60, to participate in a study of therapies for Post Deployment Stress Disorder (PDSD). Sleep problems such as insomnia and nightmares can be common symptoms of PDSD, university officials said. For more information, call (412) 246-6409.

Marine Corps Lance Cpl. Aaron E. Bigley, son of Karen Fisher of Raleigh, N.C., and Terry W. Fisher of Youngstown, was promoted to his current rank while serving with Headquarters, Marine Aircraft Group 36, Marine Corps Air Station, Futenma, Japan. He joined the Marine Corps in July 2005.

Commendation medal
YOUNGSTOWN — Navy Petty Officer 1st Class Joshua T. Reichard, son of Mary L. Reichard of Hickory, N.C., and Larry D. Reichard of Hermitage, Pa., was recently awarded the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal.
He was also selected as the command Senior Sailor of the Year while serving as lead petty officer for the security department assigned to Naval Support Activity located in Souda Bay, Crete, Greece. Reichard, vice president of his unit’s First Class Petty Officer’s Association, is a 1997 graduate of Hickory High School of Hickory, N.C.

Mobilized, activated
Army Reserve Sgt. Adam S. Boggs has been mobilized and activated for a future deployment to an overseas location in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. Boggs, a psychological operations specialist, is a member of the 303rd Psychological Operations Company based in Oakdale, Pa. He is the son of Steven L. and Cynthia K. Boggs of Sandy Lake, Pa., and graduated in 2002 from Lakeview High School, Stoneboro, Pa.
