SHARON, Pa. — Dr. Philip Lee, internal medicine physician with UPMC Horizon, will present “Nutrition and Fitness 101: Dispelling the Myth that Good Health is Complicated,” at UPMC Horizon’s Buhl Wellness Center, located at the F.H. Dental assist
YOUNGSTOWN — The Ohio North East Health Systems has received a $100,000 grant from the Anthem Foundation of Ohio to support its dental renovation program at the Youngstown Community Health Center, 726 Wick Ave.
Challenge grant
YOUNGSTOWN — The Community Foundation of the Mahoning Valley has awarded a $14,000 challenge grant to Second Harvest Food Bank for continued support of the BackPack Program at Campbell Elementary School.
Adoption classes
AUSTINTOWN — Northeast Ohio Adoption Services is offering free pre-placement education classes to cover a range of adoption and foster care topics at Hampton Inn-West, 880 N. Colorectal cancer push

Food bank grant
YOUNGSTOWN — The Florence Simon Beecher Foundation has given $5,000 to the Second Harvest Food Bank of the Mahoning Valley toward the purchase of a cargo van; and the Frank Pearl Gelbman Charitable Trust has given $5,000 to support the agency’s BackPack Program.
Cancer grant
The American Cancer Society and the Trumbull County Coordinated School Health Coalition have received a $4,000 grant from the Community Foundation of the Mahoning Valley.
The grant will be used to pay for registration scholarships for schools in Mahoning and Trumbull Counties that plan to attend the Designing and Maintaining a Safe and Healthy School Climate, Ohio’s annual coordinated school health conference, June 16-18, 2008, at Salt Fork State Park in Cambridge, Ohio.
Registration scholarship applications are available by contacting Campana at nichol.campana@cancer.org. The deadline to apply for the scholarships is April 30. Only one application per school district is permitted.
Pathogens class

Orthopedic clinic
SALEM — The Columbiana County Health Department is offering a free orthopedic clinic on May 7 at Salem Community Hospital. The clinic, staffed by Dr. Dennis Weiner, director of orthopedics at Akron Children’s Hospital, is open to county residents up to the age of 21 who have been referred by a doctor, nurse, teacher, parent, grandparent.
