A summary of recent criminal activity in Hubbard and Girard:

HUBBARD

April 4

Theft: A woman left in a blue Chevrolet Cavalier after taking merchandise from Family Dollar, 437 E. Liberty St.

Theft: A woman told officers a man carrying a brown umbrella entered her car and took her wallet while she was at a Youngstown-Hubbard Road store.

Warrant: The Girard Municipal Court issued a warrant charging a Hubbard woman with failure to appear in court to face one count each of larceny and possession of drug paraphernalia.

April 5

Theft: A Bentley Avenue woman accused a cousin of taking her cell phone. The phone was recovered, though.

April 6

Criminal damaging: A woman told police a juvenile tossed rocks and damaged part of a building in the 1800 block of West Liberty Street.

Criminal damaging: An employee of Pine Lakes Golf Club, 6233 W. Liberty St., reported a golf cart was used to damage two greens. Police made a damage estimate between $3,000 and $4,000.

April 7

Assault: An official with Hubbard High School, 350 Hall Ave., reported an assault in a hallway.

April 8

Possible burglary: A woman discovered the front door to Handyman of Hubbard, 35 S. Main St., had been broken.

GIRARD

April 5

Assault: A Girard man alleged a woman, 36, punched him in the throat during an argument about a lost wallet at a Stull Avenue apartment.

Drugs: A 41-year-old Niles man was arrested near State Street and charged with being a fugitive from justice when police found out he was wanted on a warrant from Apache County, Ariz., charging him with possession of dangerous drugs for sale. He also was charged with drug abuse and possession of drug-abuse instruments after officers said a suspected marijuana pipe and a leafy substance thought to be marijuana were found.

April 6

Theft: A worker for Werner Trucking Inc., 1200 S. State St., reported finding a trailer door open. Twenty-five boxes of office binders were thought to be missing.

Criminal trespassing: Police caught up to a 21-year-old Girard man on an all-terrain vehicle and charged him with criminal trespassing, disregard for public safety and operating an ATV on a public street. The man had traveled at high speed and was on private property off U.S. Route 422, the report said.

Breaking and entering: Someone pried open a rear door to a home in the 500 block of East Kline Street before removing about $500 worth of copper piping from the basement.

April 7

Theft: A woman accused a 17-year-old boy of taking her cell phone while at a Hancock Street residence.

Menacing: A North State Street woman reported an Austintown man continually called threatening to kill or harm her.

April 8

Burglary: Someone entered a vacant Harry Street home and took $200 worth of copper plumbing from the basement.

Burglary: Roughly 100 feet of copper piping was removed from the basement of a residence in the 900 block of North Ward Avenue after someone kicked in a rear garage door and entered.
