New Castle house fire probed
NEW CASTLE, Pa. — The cause of an early morning fire that did $15,000 damage to a two-story house at 507 E. Main St. is under investigation, the fire department said.
The first firefighters responding to the 5:13 a.m. Saturday blaze saw heavy smoke and flames coming from the basement and first floor. Nobody was in the house, and firefighters said it’s not clear whether the house was occupied.
Some contents were in the house, but it’s unclear whether they belong to a former occupant or to a squatter, the department said. There were no injuries.
