Retired Ohio AFL-CIO head endorses Clinton

COLUMBUS (AP) — Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Rodham Clinton has gained an endorsement from an Ohio union leader, giving her a narrow lead over rival Barack Obama in support from superdelegates in the state.

Clinton campaign spokesman Isaac Baker says Bill Burga endorsed Clinton Thursday. Burga is the retired president of the Ohio AFL-CIO.

Five Ohio superdelegates have endorsed Clinton, while four have endorsed Obama. Ohio has 21 superdelegates, who are not bound by voters’ choices when they select a candidate at the nominating convention.

Clinton won the March 4 Ohio primary over Obama 54 percent to 44 percent.

Obama has a virtually insurmountable lead in pledged delegates from caucuses and primaries so far, but Clinton retains an edge in superdelegates.
