Ticketing contract postponed
YOUNGSTOWN — The city’s board of control is postponing a vote by a few days to hire Ticketmaster to handle ticketing for events at the Chevrolet Centre.
But the delay doesn’t mean there’s any problems with the ticketing agency, said Kyle Miasek, the city’s deputy finance director.
Ticketmaster officials have been at the city-owned center since Monday reviewing what needs to be done to transfer ticketing operations to the company, Miasek said. The transfer from GetTix.Net to Ticketmaster will still happen May 1, he said.
The board of control approved an outline of a contract last Friday with the nation’s largest event ticketing agency. The plan was for the board to approve a final five-year contract at today’s meeting.
The city’s finance and law departments need a few more days to review the final details, Miasek said.
“We don’t want to rush it,” he said.
The board will hold a special meeting sometime next week to approve the deal, he said.
