NILES — A group called for more focus on creating “green jobs” at a press conference Wednesday at the Amweld Building Products plant in Niles, which closed recently. “The time for a national push for renewable energy is now,” said USW International President Leo W. Gerard. About 250 workers lost their jobs when Amweld recently moved its production to Mexico.
