Ursuline 13, Warren JFK 0

WARREN — Senior Robert Switka pitched a five-inning perfect game as Ursuline rolled in a Steel Valley Conference game. Switka struck out 10 of the 15 batters he faced. Ross Revella, Nick McCartney and Alex DeMarco all had two hits for the Irish (7-0, 1-0 SVC). Mark Latikas had a double and three RBIs for the winners. JFK fell to 1-2, 0-1 SVC.

Mooney 16, Chaney 5

STRUTHERS — Cardinal Mooney pounded out 11 hits including inside-the-park home runs by Matt Durkin and Bobby Herberger for the Cardinals (5-1). Tim Marlowe and Marc Gorvet each hit triples for Mooney. Victor Cardarelli and Cico Morales added doubles for the Cowboys.

Canfield 10, Campbell 1

CANFIELD — Dan Banna hit a two-run homer and Marc Carrocce had three hits, two stolen bases and an RBI for Canfield (4-0, 2-0 Metro Athletic Conference). Kyle Vaclav added two hits and two RBIs, while John Manzoian and Matt Keating each had two hits. Brian Fox struck out 10 over five innings to get his first win.

Howland 11, Fitch 9

AUSTINTOWN — Howland went ahead in the second inning and never fell behind, although it took senior third baseman Spencer Sechler’s putout with the bases loaded in the bottom of the seventh inning to seal the outcome for the Tigers (3-2). Fitch came within 11-9 before Sechler fielded a grounder and tagged third base for the force out. Starting pitcher Matt Schultz, a senior, gave up two runs after returning in the seventh to get the win and save. For Howland, Eric Jones had two hits and two RBIs, Jared Kirin had three hits and one RBI, Matt Preston had two hits and scored twice, Josh Kostraba had two RBIs, Jonathan Brady had four RBIs and Stefan Stelk had two hits including a double. For Fitch (2-2), junior Ricky Segesto had two hits including a double, junior Jason Bagoly had a triple and double and three RBIs, senior J.D. Kubacki had a home run and sophomore Tony Koch had three hits including a double.

Niles 5, Salem 3

SALEM — Niles scored three times in the top of the seventh inning and rallied from behind to beat Salem. The Red Dragons had an RBI double by Evan Bollinger and an RBI single by Mike Livi in the final inning. Mike Kelly scattered five hits to get the win for Niles (1-3, 1-1 MAC). Bollinger had two hits and Nic Mientkiewicz add two for the Dragons. Zac O’Brien had two hits for Salem (1-2, 0-2).

Poland 8, Struthers 4

STRUTHERS — Trent Vallinger struck out 10 batters in four innings and went 3-for-4 at the plate with a double to lead Poland. Kevin Koval added two hits and two RBIs while Drew Petro added a triple and Ross Lopez hit an inside-the-park home run.

South Range 11, Crestview 10

COLUMBIANA — Jack Dawson went 3-for-5 with three runs scored, including the game-winner in the bottom of the eighth, to lead South Range in a game that was completed Wednesday after being suspended Tuesday night following the seventh inning. Isaac Melnick and Vince Miller each added two hits for the Raiders. Josh Orr had three hits and Brian Bechtel and Corey Hill each added two for Columbiana.

McDonald 16, Wellsville 6

WELLSVILLE — Sophomore Nick Gatta, junior Alex Baker, junior Mike Thomas and senior Anthony Fossacecca had two hits apiece for McDonald (6-0, 5-0 ITCL Tier Two). Sophomore Anthony Raschilla had a two-run home run, Fossacecca had three RBIs and Gatta doubled for the Blue Devils.

Girard 8, LaBrae 2

LEAVITTSBURG — Larry Goist had three hits and four RBIs to lead Girard (3-4, 3-2 Trumbull Athletic Conference), while Nick Devore and Aaron Jennings each had two hits. Alex Warne and Greg Gibson had two hits for LaBrae.

Hubbard 13, Newton Falls 5

NEWTON FALLS —Mike Carnahan had a home run and triple and Bo Slemons doubled for the Eagles. Carnahan, Slemons, John Madeline and Matt Shelton finished with two hits apiece for the Eagles. Senior Jae Leeworthy and junior Jan Pugh had two hits, with one of Leeworthy’s a two-run homer, for Newton Falls (0-3, 0-3 TAC).

Mathews 12, Southington 2

VIENNA — Sophomore Collin Bowser threw a seven-hitter in making his first varsity start, which included four strikeouts and no walks.Bowser also had three hits including a double, while senior John Scudier had two hits for the Mustangs (1-2-1, 1-1 NAC). Senior Jesse Hardval also had a double for the winners. Phil Ciprian had three RBIs, while Rick Sommers and Kyle Davis each had two RBIs for Mathews. Ryan Hall had two hits for Southington.

Ursuline 15, Niles 2

NILES — Winning pitcher Jim Mszanski (2-0) struck out three batters and walked none for the Irish (6-0) on Tuesday. He also doubled.Joel Wielbruda had four hits and drove in three runs while Ross Revella had three hits and three RBIs. Contributing doubles were Revella with two, Wielbruda, Mark Lapikas, Dan Baco and Nick McCartney. For Niles (0-3), Mike Kelly had two singles.

Marlington 8, Southeast 3

MARLINGTON — Nathan Morrison had two doubles for Marlington (4-1). Brent Ford had a double and single for the Pirates (1-3).
