Angels of Easter Seals 31st Annual Spring Fashion Show
OK, it's 2:10 and the show's nearly over.
No one missed the catwalk. And the outfits were outstanding.
But tears were flowing -- for the kids, when they took to the stage with celebrity guests.
Watch for more coverage later. And photos. Lots of photos tonight and Friday.
You have to come back to vindy.com and check out the outfits.
THIRD POST: 11:55: Easter Seals Fashion Show Live | When the Easter Seals kids take the stage ...
Watch the smiles, that's what we were warned by luncheon leaders.
Part of the fashion show today will involve actual kids who are part of the Easter Seals programs.
They will take the stage at some point. Canes, crutches ... and smiles.
It's a special moment for them. It's a more special moment for the people in the audience.
SECOND POST: 11:15: Easter Seals Fashion Show Live | Just don't fall off the catwalk
Don't fall off the catwalk. It's the rule I'm repeating right now.
And it's for good reason. On the TV news last night, they showed a modeling show in South Carolina where an inexperienced catwalker fell through the lighted floor.
I don't know if they found her yet.
A co-worker predicts me falling down.
It could happen: It's a huge catwalk -- easily 200 feet of runway.
FIRST POST: 10:42: Easter Seals Live | Ladies flooding Mr. Anthony's for luncheon
Today's the day for The Angels of Easter Seals 31st Annual Luncheon and "Boutique Fashion Showcase."
It will be a full house here on South Ave. -- about 750 people, according to Julie Costas ... volunteer publicity person for the event.
They expect to raise about $45,000 with the money going to Easter Seals' cause: enabling disabled children and adults to live with dignity.
I'm here (Todd Franko, Vindy editor).
I'm among a handful of celebrity models. I have one debate with the term "celebrity." I don't think you qualify as one unless you are asked for an autograph or are interrupted while going to the bathroom. Neither has happened to me. And I'm not eager for it either.
And my public profile is rather low. I have a blog, and my mom reads it. And Louie Free.
But there are others who'll do the catwalk who are rather known:
- Mark Koontz, Mike Case and Madonna Chism Pinkard are among the crew from WFMJ.
- Paul Wetzl and Jackie Preston will be here from WKBN-TV. (At an event last fall, my chili was better than Wetzl's in the media category. He'll be eying revenge)
- Stan Boney and Bill Castrovince are here from WYTV-33.
- A.C. and Kelly from Hot 101
- The Vindy has me, Barb Shaffer and Nena Perkins. Our newspaper's best looking guy, Denny O'Neill (just ask him about the title, he gave it to himself) is in a tux, but he's not modeling.
I'll offer some more from this event over the next few hours.
I have to go practice my walk now.
