National Day of Prayer events set


YOUNGSTOWN — The City Prayer Team of Youngstown will observe the National Day of Prayer ’08 on May 1 during three events in the city. The theme is “Prayer is America’s Strength and Shield.”

A morning observance is planned from 7 to 8 a.m. at Fifth Avenue Community Church, 1361 Fifth Ave., with speaker Pastor Mark Geppert, international missionary. He wrote the book, “The Attack Lands.”

A midday observance will be from noon to 1 p.m, at Market and West Federal streets downtown with speaker Pastor Tarone Claybook, a member of Heartreach Ministries.

An evening observance will culminate the Day of Prayer with a program from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at Trinity United Methodist Church, 30 W. Front St. An original play by Kenneth Brown, local educator and playwright, will be staged. There will be refreshments.
